Power electronics is a broad subject that deals with every aspect of electronic systems and devices. Any computer, machine, controller, game, etc., that is available today is dependent on the power electronics in those systems and devices to operate. Power electronics systems deal with the process of converting electrical power from one form to another. Power Electronics Handbook is specifically designed for the professional engineer in industry and includes contributions of over 60 authors primarily from industry.
Power electronics is most frequently thought of because of its importance in supplying and converting an uninterruptable power supply to computers. The growth in computational power, communications applications, data storage, and memory systems has put the common layperson directly in contact with power engineering devices and challenges such as surge protectors and power failures. However, the field of power electronics is involved in all electronic devices and sytems. Examples include residential (refrigeration, heating, cooking, audio/video), commercial (lighting, office equipment, elevators), industrial (pumps, compressors, fans, robots, lasers, welding), transportation (automotive electronics, electric trains, battery chargers), and telecommunications (battery chargers, power supplies).
All engineers involved with system and device design must deal with the fundamentals and advances of power electronics. This Handbook is the result of an intensive search to develop a new major reference for this large professional market. All aspects of AC and DC power conversion are addressed and there is an emphasis on the design process throughout as well as safety andreliability. This is the most comprehensive treatment of all aspects of power electronics ever presented in one volume at such a reasonable price.
The book has 35 chapters covering all aspects of power electronics and its applications.

Gateways Into Electronics by Peter Carroll Dunn, ISBN 0471254487
A unique introduction to the many facets of electronics guided by industrial rather than academic practice, Gateways into Electronics relies on timeless principles rather than special methods and quickly provides the reader with the tools to explore the literature quantitatively and design simple instruments with assurance. It is thus an invaluable resource for scientists and engineers seeking to understand and develop applications of electronics in their fields.
Covering linear systems, circuit theory, operational amplifiers, semiconductor devices, feedback systems, and digital circuits at a level accessible to anyone with a good grasp of elementary calculus and the bare bones of physics, this comprehensive work also offers clear and compact discussions of generalized functions, Laplace and Fourier transforms, the electromagnetic foundations of circuit theory, transmission lines, modulation and detection, random processes and noise, and signal recovery.

Practical Electronics for Inventors
2004 has been a terrific year so far for the TAB Electronics/Robotics line of books. Electronics hobbyists and students are buying more books than ever, and we've had a LOT of success with some of our early project books (our new "Evil Genius" series is doing particularly well). By adding projects and sample problems to this great seller, we should have an even stronger potential to sell this book like crazy. The first edition of Practical Electronics for Inventors was phenomenally successful and popular among electronics hobbyists and "tinkerers." This is a fairly "tight" group, and when they noticed some errors in the book, they were fairly vocal in wanting to see errata. The result? A new and improved book that has been completely updated, with several readers' suggestions for improvement incorporated inside - errors have been fixed, drawings replaced, new information included, whole new sections added (modern computers, object-oriented microcontrollers, transducers, projects, etc.)...

What Car Dealers Don't Want You to Know by Mark Eskeldson, ISBN 0964056070
In this new edition of the consumer guide to car buying, the author cites a recent undercover investigation to show how dealers use deceptive sales practices to trick shoppers into paying outrageous overcharges. The book details every scam -- from "dealer's cost" surcharges to leasing rip-offs -- in use today. This book is unique in its consumer protection information and insights from car dealers, attorneys, and victims.

Body Electronics: Vital Steps for Physical Regeneration
Body electronics is a self-healing system that utilizes nutrient saturation through diet and supplementation. Thomas Chavez learned this discipline under its developer, Dr. John Whitman Ray, and in Body Electronics, Chavez expands it to cover every imaginable trauma and illness. The basis for the approach is the melting of melanin protein complexes (crystals) in the body that develop through years of poor diet, insufficient water, poor bowel ecology, and other factors. The book addresses such topics as how to achieve appropriate levels of nutrient saturation with the right combination of enzymes and minerals; how much water to drink and why it's important; how eating cooked food can be a damaging addiction; and how to achieve a healthy relationship with bacterial flora for intestinal health. In addition to physical wellness, the book addresses spiritual and psychological well being. The results of body electronics have been called miraculous; this book shows why.

Solving Interference Problems in Electronics by Ralph Morrison, ISBN 0471127965
A fresh look at electronics in the real world of Electromagnetic interference, the physical environment, and utility power . . .
Despite the many advances in electronics, the semiconductor revolution, and technologies that perform well above 100 MHz--problems of noise and interference remain. One reason is the inability of circuit theory to address a number of real-world issues--utility power, grounding, the character of buildings, the nature of long cables, or questions of radiation vis--vis equipment.
"Solving Interference Problems in Electronics tackles all these areas with an amazingly accessible and down-to-earth approach that bridges the gap between the practical world and today's electronics. Highly original and pragmatic, the book uses elementary principles of physics to shed new light on EMI, and shows students and engineering professionals how to solve problems that are often beyond the scope of circuit theory.
Drawing on his 30 years experience in the field, author...
